If you have a natural interest in baking, cooking or food in general, an eye for detail, are creative, practical, enjoy experimenting with recipes and making beautiful products, a career in baking or a related industry may be just right for you. Interest and ability in science- and maths-related activities are also a good start.
Employees of baking and related industries have a wide range of skills, experience and ability. Some come from families where baking is a traditional family occupation, others work part-time in bakeries before deciding to do an apprenticeship, while others may only come to baking or a related industry later in life, or through another career path altogether. Some people develop an interest in baking and enter the industry as a way of exploring this. Most people who remain working in baking or related industries are passionate about the craft and really enjoy what they do.
