slightly aerated icing with a high fat content to provide gloss and softness. Main ingredients are fat, icing sugar, water and flavouring. May also include eggs, salt and milk powder. Milk powder is added to thicken the mixture and also contributes to the flavour. There are two kinds of creamed icing. See decorating icing and cake icing. Water can be added to thin down creamed icing.
