Collaboration key to industry improvement

The Baking Industry Research Trust recently held Technology Transfer Seminars in Auckland and Christchurch. A  Life Membership award was presented to well-known industry leader Doug Leighton, who retired at the end of 2016.

Invited speakers presented on a range of industry related topics, and guests had the opportunity to hear Doug recount some of his experiences over 53 years in the industry.

There was a noticeable emphasis by all presenters on the need for continued research, collaboration and information sharing, and the importance of alliances for the benefit of the sector as a whole. Much of the research being carried out is now co-funded and carried out by more than one industry partner.
