Non-leaching bake tray helps cut down packaging

Bakeryandsnacks.com (18/03/09) reports that UK based packaging maufacturer Alexir has introduced new loaf cake packaging. They claim that the new packaging can help overcome the problem of stains on the casing after baking and cut down the amount of packaging used. The packaging is already being used by one prominent cake maker in UK. Batter is placed in the bottom of the tray and then baked in the oven. With traditional trays leaching occurs which stains the edges of the board and affects the look of the final product. However with this tray the material and production process means that no leaching occurs. When developing this new tray attributes considered were sustainability and environmentally friendliness with the aim of helping retailers and manufacturers meet their environmental targets. The loaf case reduces packaging and packaging weight, as well as improving on appearance.
