Annette Campbell
With more than 20 years experience in the New Zealand Baking industry, I have a huge passion for ensuring the Industry continues to thrive by developing new people and skills to respond to our markets.
Key to this is a strong focus on research and innovation which allows us to move beyond “day to day” business needs and to respond appropriately to emerging trends.
Over the years, I have seen the Trust money spent on a wide variety of projects encompassing all aspects of baking research.
The Lifestyle Foods project (a 6 year $20M+ government backed project) focused on delivering bakery goods with controlled glycaemic response is an example of a project at the larger end of the spectrum while the work on ascertaining the various attributes of bread tins demonstrates our ability to be very focused and applied.
The Trust is keen to see our young people develop so the growth of the Young Baker of the Year award and its associated $10,000 research grant is something I am thrilled to see in place.
As the CEO of Couplands Bakeries, the largest independently owned bakery in NZ with over 20 retail outlets, I am well placed to ensure the trust remains relevant to the Industry as a whole.
